Pioneer Day! Pioneer Day! Pioneer Day!

James is an official Pioneer Day fan. Especially since Pioneer Day = Mommy and James time. That morning we got up, had breakfast, got dressed, and set out for Liberty Park. We browsed the festival until it was time to watch the parade. We had a prime lookout spot and James was able to stand up in the stroller to see. The one thing I hadn't really thought out was our spot at the end of the parade route. Do you know how rough a high school band looks after marching for two miles in 100 degree weather? Oh well, James was still impressed. After the parade we hit the festival once more, in an effort to eat lunch. The pizza place was out of pizza (what?) so we settled for Kettle Korn while we walked home.

At home we had lunch and napped. After nap we played with Daddy and May. After Daddy and May turned in for the night we were still awake waiting for FIREWORKS! James was very excited to walk down to a closer location. He scouted us out a spot and waited anxiously for the fireworks to begin. He talked through the whole show. His running commentary went something like this:

"Whoa, that was a big one! So many colors! Red, green, more green, purple, red. A rainbow one! Now we've seen seven rainbow ones! Look at that one! So loud! Wow, pretty!" etc. etc. etc.

Living so close to Liberty Park definitely has its perks. On the walk home James told me he can't wait for next Pioneer Day. And you know what? Neither can I.
